Reporting measurements Western Scheldt
Analyse and describe the measurement data
Projectbureau Zeeweringen Rijkswaterstaat
Western Scheldt, the Netherlands
2003
Wave, water level wind and depth measurements are performed at various locations in the Western Scheldt. Among other purposes, wave measurements are carried out to validate numerical wave models. Numerical wave models, such as SWAN, are used to determine wave conditions necessary for the design and maintenance of coastal dikes.
The field measurements in the Western Scheldt from the period of 1997 to December 2002 were archived but not yet documented.
Svašek Hydraulics has described the conducted measurements and analyzed the data, making them transferable and available to other users and stakeholders through Rijkswaterstaat. The report clarifies which measurements are available at which locations during which periods and provides insights into the wave climate.
